HTTPS stands for HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure. It is a protocol for securing the communication between two systems such as a web browser and your Helix IP camera. For more information on how to set up HTTPS using the Helix web user interface (web UI) please refer to the information provided below.
Step 1: Open a web browser and log in to the web user interface (web UI) for your camera. For more information on how to access the web UI for your camera click here.
Step 2: Navigate to Settings>>Network>>HTTPS and click on the Certification tab.
Step 3: Enter the country, state, city, and other information for the HTTPS cert into the required fields and click Create Cert to create the HTTPS cert. The camera will restart after creating the cert.
Step 4: Once the camera comes back online, navigate back to Settings>>Network>>HTTPS and download the created cert to your computer. Click Export to download the cert to your computer.
Note: Locate the downloaded HTTPS cert and install it on your computer. For more information on how to install the cert on your desktop please refer to the information provided below.
• Select Install Certificate.
• Use the Certificate Import Wizard to install the cert. Make sure the Store Location is set to Local Machine. Click Next.
• Click Place all certificates in the following store, select Browse, and select Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Click Next.
• Click Finish.
Step 5: After the cert is installed on your computer, navigate back to the web UI for your camera and access the HTTPS tab. In the HTTPS tab, click Enable and click Apply to enable HTTPS. The device will restart once it reloads the camera will be set to use HTTPS.
Note: You may need to refresh the browser, clear cache, etc. to show HTTPS status in the browser.
