RTMP stands for real-time messaging protocol. It provides a high-performance transmission of video, and data from an encoder such as an IP camera to a server, which distributes the signal across the internet. Many streaming providers and encode developers support RTMP streaming, including YouTube. This article will demonstrate how to stream the feed from your Helix IP camera to a YouTube channel. Step 1: Log into your YouTube channel and click the Go Live button.
Step 2: In YouTube Studio, enter a title and description for your stream and click Save. Make sure to notate the stream URL as well as the Stream Key.
Step 3: Open the web user interface (Web UI) of your camera using a web browser. For more information on how to access the web UI, click here.
Step 4: The camera will require you to disable RTSP for RTMP to function. To disable RTSP, go to Settings>>Network>>Connection and access the ONVIF tab. Disable the RTSP option and click Apply.
Note: Please make sure to lower the mainstream bitrate to 2048 kbps for using RTMP. The audio format will be changed to AAC as well by default.
Step 5: Once RTSP is disabled, click on the RTMP tab, enable the function as well as the audio option if you would like audio to be provided in the stream.
Step 6: Copy and paste the Stream URL into the IP Address field, then copy and paste the Stream Key into the StreamKey field. Click Apply.
Note: Click the Refresh button to check the status of your connection.
The feed from your Amcrest IP camera will now be streaming on YouTube using RTMP.
