HTTPS stands for HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure. It is a protocol for securing the communication between two systems such as a web browser and your Helix device. For more information on how to set up HTTPS using the web user interface (web UI) please refer to the information provided below.
Step 1: Log into the NVR's web user interface (web UI) using a web browser. For more information on how to access the web UI for your device, click here.
Step 2: Click on the settings option (gear wheel icon) and select System. Click on General and select the Date and Time menu. Ensure the NVR's date and time are synced to your computer's date and time before setting up HTTPS. Once confirmed, click Apply.
Step 3: Click on the Network option and select HTTPS. Click on the Certification tab and enter the credentials for your HTTPS cert. Click Export to export the HTTPS cert to your device.
Note: Click Keep in the browser, if needed, to export the cert to your device.
Step 4: Right click on the cert file and select Install Certificate, click Open and use the Certificate Import Wizard to install the cert. Select Local Machine and click Next.
Step 5: Click Place all certificates in the following store, select Browse, and select Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Click Next.
Step 6: Click Finish to install the cert.
Step 7: Return to the NVR's web UI and in the HTTPS menu, select the HTTPS tab, click Enable.
The NVR will restart, allow the device to reboot and access the web UI. The device will now have a secure HTTPS/SSL connection.
