Email setup will be dependent on your specific email provider. In this example, we will be using Gmail. Setting up email alerts will allow your device to send email notifications once a motion detection or other event is detected by the device. For more information on how to setup email alerts please refer to the information provided below.
Step 1: Open the Helix Pro app and select your device. tap on the settings (gear wheel), access the Configuration Center and select Email.
Step 2: Enter the SMTP server address (if using Gmail it is smtp.gmail.com) and port number. For instance, if using the TLS as an encryption protocol you will enter 587. If using SSL, it will be port 465.
Step 3: Enter your email address into the User Email field. Enter the password provided by Gmail into the Password field. Please note, the "Password" should be the Gmail generated app password provided.
Allowing Less Secure Apps (Updated)
• In Gmail, using a web browser, click the account avatar/icon picture located in the upper right of the window.
• Click the blue button that says "Manage Your Google Account"
• Once on the account setting page please click "Security"
• Click on ensure 2-step verification is enabled. In the 2-step verification menu, scroll down and locate App passwords
• Enter a name for the authentication and click Create.
• Google will generate an app password which must be entered into the Password field in the app.
Step 4 Enter the recipient's email into the Recipients field. Multiple recipients can be entered if needed. Select the correct SSL Encryption, for instance since we are using port 587 we will choose TLS. Click Apply.
Step 5: Tap Test to test the alerts. A confirmation email will be sent to the user email entered in the app.
