If you are having issues connecting a third party device to your Helix NVR, such as an Amcrest camera, using the default ONVIF protocol it is important to make sure that the ONVIF user profile has been created on the camera side before adding it into the NVR. If the camera is already added to the NVR the ONVIF user profile on the camera side can still be updated to resolve the issue. For more information on how to add an ONVIF profile using an Amcrest camera, click here.
Once the ONVIF user profile has been created on the camera side navigate back to the NVR and open the Camera registration menu. If the status is still red, click on the modify icon in the Operate menu.
Enter the username and password for your device into the interface and click OK. Select your device in the device list and click Refresh, you will see the status of the camera turn green indicating it is successfully connected.
Still Experiencing Issues?
If you are still experiencing issues adding your device into the NVR the camera can be added using a custom protocol involving RTSP. This involves a more direct connection approach from the camera to the NVR.
Step 1: Open a web browser and log into your device. For more information on how to access the web user interface (web UI) for your device, click here.
Step 2: Click on the Settings icon (gear wheel) and select Camera. Click Search.
Step 3: Click Device Search.
Step 4: Select your devices from the device list. The device will have a default ONVIF protocol in the interface, click Add. After it has been added, click Back to exit the menu.
Step 5: Click the modify icon in the Operate menu.
Step 6: Select the Protocol dropdown menu and select a custom protocol. Make sure the device's password is correct and click OK.
Step 7: Select the device and click Refresh. The status of the device will turn green when connected.
