A third-party camera, such as an Amcrest camera, can be added into the device with limited features using the ONVIF protocol. This is the default protocol for adding third-party devices. This will allow you to view the live feed, playback. or other basic features from your existing set up. The camera should be activated and ready to use on your network before adding it to your NVR. Please note, IVS and other more integrated features may not be compatible when adding third party devices into the NVR. Compatibility using ONVIF may be ONVIF profile specific. If you are having issues adding your device to the NVR using the default ONVIF protocol, a custom protocol using RTSP can be applied if needed. Before proceeding, make sure your NVR and your cameras are on the same network while adding. For more information on how to add this device into your Helix NVR, please refer to the information provided below.
Step 1: Open a web browser and log into your device. For more information on how to access the web user interface (web UI) for your device, click here.
Step 2: Click on the Settings icon (gear wheel) and select Camera. Click Search.
Step 3: Click Device Search.
Step 4: Select your devices from the device list. The device will have a default ONVIF protocol in the interface, click Add. After it has been added, click Back to exit the menu.
Step 5: If the camera is set to default, the password will be admin and will register as online (green), however, if the camera is red, the password may need to be entered manually. To modify the device password, click the pencil icon under Operate. Enter the camera's password and click OK.
Step 6: The camera will register as online and ready for use.
